Research Abstract |
Physics at energies covered by colliders of electron-cooled GeV nuclei and electrons is very important for studies from non-perturbed to perturbed QCD(Quantum ChromoDynamics). In this research project, we investigated followings. 1.From the experimental point of view, luminosities should be as large as 10^<33>cm^<-2>s^<-1>. In order to realize this luminosity, it was found that the electron cooling of ions at the maximum energy is inevitable. 2.A conceptual design of the accelerator lattice was performed based on the ion optical studies. It was found that there are optimum combinations between energies of nuclei and electrons. 3.It was found from our researches at RCNP that the temperature control of cooling water by 0.1°is a key issue to stabilize accelerators. 4.High performance magnets were designed and eddy current effects were investigated from the ion optical point of view. 5.The medium modification of hadron properties in nuclei is one of most important and inter-esting subjects in the nuclear physics, which is predicted by QCD and QHD.We investgated the effect observed by the quasi-free (p, 2p) scattering leading to s_<1/2> states. 6.Collaboration program was started between PNPI(Russia) and RCNP for experimental nu-clear physics researches at GeV energy region.
