Research Abstract

On-site investigations on environment, collection of data on environment were conducted at various Asian areas to clarify the impact of industrialization on environment.
Recent environmental status in Malaysia can be found through Air Pollutant Index in Malaysian Environmental Quality Report, including the haze problem.
Past air quality in Thailand was reported in Pollution Control Department Annual Report to show worse levels especially in suspended particles in Bangkok.
Air pollutant emission levels from Samchonpo thermal power plant, Kwangyang works ( Pohang Steel Co. ) in Korea, as well as from Japanese thermal power plants are very low in excellent status internationally.
Generally TSP ( totally suspended particles ) contents in China nationwidely were and are found to be severely high.
Since noise or vibration levels produced by an industrial product are regarded recently as an important measure to maintain a life of good quality, efforts toward reducing noise and vibration in environment in Thai and Indonesia are described in detail.
The state on treatment on disposal of waste in Laos is discussed.
Some aspects from geotechnical and geological engineering in Asia are discussed.
Serious problems in disposal of municipal waste in Thailand and Nepal are discussed.
By-product mineral admixtures from Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Japan are compared in detail.
