Research Abstract |
There is little study about the relations of the religious institutions and the village composition. 'Chua VIETNAM' (1993) by Prof. Ha Van Tan (Director, Vietnam Institute of Archeology) refer to Buddhism history, the festival in each temple and village. When we selected the object of fieldwork, Prof. Ha Van Tan and Mr. Tong Trung Tin (vice- Director, Vietnam Institute of Archeology) gave us advice. We gathered date at 28 Chua (temple), 13 Dinh (the meeting place of the village which deifies a village guardian deity), 13 other religious institutions. Temples shows that a complex Vietnamese faith form was received, and keeps traditional building technique and style among the religious institutions in Vietnam. For this reason, we proceeded with the study on the basis of the relations of temple and village. It is the purpose of this study to clear the building technology and design, Carpenter group, Village history of the religion institutes in northern Vietnam synthetically. As for the building technique and the design, we could get many new Results. To be concrete, a part of the donation system in some temples and Dinh became distinct from the donation inscription which inscribed at the pillar, the beam, and so on. We proposed dividing the change process of the arrangement of the main building in four terms. But it was very difficult to survey the religious institutions stayed at the traditional village. As for the investigation of the festival and the details of the village history is often restricted. It is necessary to continue the fieldwork and study more from now on, too. This research was started with the aim of restructuring of the Vietnamese wooden building history, the Buddhism history and the village cultural history. We hope to make use of this result as the research materials of the researcher of each domestic field. I wish to continue the research of this field from now on, too.
