Research Abstract |
1. Most of the members have carried out field surveys in Mongolia in such spheres as pastureland vegatation, subsurface environment, folk beliefs of death, local history, natural environment, pastureland utilization, colloqual dialect, and so on. Results of these surveys have been delivered at the meetings and workshop and the collected papers have been prepared to be in print. 2. 8 meetings were held during 2 years of the research. Each time Mongolian reserchers were invited to give a lecture or to introduce his or her reserch work so that the members could get the latest imformation about the research activities in Mongolia. In August 2000, an international workshop entitled "Tasks of Mongolian Studies in the 21st century" was held in Sendai City, in which 3 eminent Mongolian scholars were invited to participate as well as T Japanese researchers. 3. We have made the following databases : (1) Mongolian image database using NOAA AVHRR, (2) 10-day composite AVHRR data of Asian region (3) Electronized materials of Written Mongolian Language. The Mongolian image database have been offered at the homepage of Tohoku Univ.
