Research Abstract |
In this project, the following fundamental results for the development of optical device could be obtained. 1) The periodic χ^<(2)> structure was developed along the wave path by the third order nonlinear optical effects of the interference waves between fundamental and second harmonic waves and the formed χ^<(2)> structure leaded to the formation of the phase matched optical waveguide. 2) Photochemical reaction induced by the modulated ultraviolet light (1 - 200 Hz) or the interference of ultraviolet laser light produced the spatiotemporal structure with ordered refractive index distribution.
