| Research Abstract |
昨年度の一つの研究成果として刊行した著書『エリアーデ宗教学の展開』(刀水書房、2000年)が、本年度「中村元賞」を受賞した。また本年度は、論文Approaches East and West to the History of Religions : Four Japanese Thinkersにおいて、一般宗教史理論をめぐる日本人研究者からの貢献について検討し、その内容については、2000年8月に南アフリカ共和国ダーバンで開催された、国際宗教学・宗教史学会第18回学術大会のパネル・ディスカッションContextualizing Japanese Religious Studiesでも発表した。
なお同大会において開かれたシンポジウムMircea Eliade's Vision and Our Present Understanding of Religion Iにおいて、"Camouflage and Epiphany : The Discovery of the Sacred in Mircea Eliade and Oe Kenzaburo"と題する発表を行ない、宗教学者エリアーデの思想と小説家大江健三郎の創作世界との関連について考察を展開した。この発表内容は、シンポジウムの企画者Bryan Rennie教授の編著Changing Religious World :The Meaning and End of Mircea Eliade(State University of New York Press,2000)の第二巻(The International Response)に収録される予定である。またこの主題については日本宗教学会第59回学術大会において「エリアーデと大江健三郎」と題して発表を行ない、別の論文・学会発表において敷衍しつつある。
また宗教史理論についての論点をエリアーデの学問に照らして整理した論文として、「宗教の『世界史』に向けて」が近刊の予定となっている。
