Research Abstract

溶液からの化合物薄膜の電気化学析出は一種の自己組織化過程であり、結晶成長を支配する表面反応に直接影響を及ぼす有機分子などの化学種を共存させることで、特異的な結晶成長を促したり、無機/有機複合薄膜を作製することが可能となる。本研究では亜鉛塩水溶液からの酸化亜鉛薄膜のカソード電析において、種々の水溶性色素分子を電解浴中に混合することで、酸化亜鉛/色素3次元ナノ複合構造体薄膜の電気化学的自己組織化を試み、その色素増感光電極機能を調べた。
水溶液からの酸化亜鉛薄膜の電析では、化学的に最安定な(002)最密面が溶液側に露出するように成長し、c軸が基板と垂直になるよう自発的に配向するが、例えば水溶性のテトラスルホン酸フタロシアニン金属錯体を共存させると、色素分子の吸着が酸化亜鉛(002)面に対して優先的に起こるため、c軸方向への成長が抑制され、代わってa軸方向に結晶成長が進行し、薄片状結晶がそのエッジ((100)面)を溶液に露出するラメラー状構造体が形成することがわかった。一方色素にエオシンYを用いた場合は、薄膜形成過程で色素分子の電気化学的還元が起こり、分子の求核性が増すことで亜鉛イオンとの錯形成が進行して、ナノサイズポア内部表面に多量の色素分子が吸着し、且つ巨視的には高結晶性の酸化亜鉛構造を維持したユニークなナノハニカム複合体が得られることが分かった。
得られた酸化亜鉛/色素複合薄膜は可視光のエネルギーを変換できる光電極として機能し、膜中に導入された色素分子による光増感作用が確認された。中でも酸化亜鉛/エオシンY複合膜は優れた光機能を有し、照射フォトン当たりの光電流電子数変換効率は最大47%に達した。本手法は簡便であり、通常必要とされる高温での熱処理を要さないことから、色素増感型太陽電池の光電極材料の低コストな新しい作製法となり得る。
