Research Abstract |
Various microscopes and surface roughness measurement instrument were used to investigate the fundamental aspects of deformation processes, fracture mechanisms, tribology and machining. The collaborated researches were performed between University members and the company members. The newly introduced scanning probe microscope, laser microscope, and three-dimensional surface profile measurement equipment were used to investigate the microscopic plastic deformation behavior of various engineering metals. The characteristics of the strength of thin metallic firms were also studied. The effect of surface condition and the surface coatings on the precise grinding process and the electro-machining process were measured. The effect of the surface coatings were studied and the new method of surface coating was proposed.
