Research Abstract |
We established medical information network for stroke, connecting Nagoya Unversity, Aichi Medical Association, and 11 affiliated hospitals through integrated services digitai network (ISDN) (64k - 1. 5M). We evaluated our original data communication equipment to transfer images of computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or digital subtraction angiography (DSA). In resting images such as CT or MRI, we could get highly-image resolution to be able to diagnose by neurosurgeons in this network. In video-images such as 3 Dimentional CT and Angiography or DSA, we also evaluated. As a result, we needed more than 384k broadcasting control equipment to get images for diagnosis or supportive medical treatments. We also made clinical database systems for patients to receive emergency treatments. In 2000, we enrolled 2989 cases, 240 images, and 69 consultations from general hospitals in this network. In some cases, the network functioned very effectively and was very useful to treat stroke patients. Some patients could discharge with no deficits despite they had suffered from main vessel occlusion in brain. In this study, we could get much data to establish a practical informative network for stroke. In future, we are going to promote attractive local medical information network including home care medicine.
