Research Abstract |
To establish a new detection system for harmful estrogen like chemical compounds. KO mouse lacking estrogen have been prepared. This female mouse becomes infertile due to immature ovary and uterus and they decay after growth but at becomes fertile when the mouse is supplement with estrogen directly birth. Many kind of estrogen analogs competitive action of estrogens to the mouse again those organs. The male mouse is also fertile due to abnormal sexual behavior, but it becomes fertile after supplemented with estrogen. It also lacks aggression against other male mouse. This is reversed by supplementation with estrogen, and the action of estrogen is inhibited by many estrogens analogs. Thus, KO mouse lacking estrogen prepared in this study is useful for bioassay of biohazard estrogen like chemical substances. We have also developed chemical assay method for harmful estrogen like stubstances in the brain of the mouse before and after estrogen treatment.
