Research Abstract

ナノスケール系の量子物性が基礎的にも応用的にも注目されている。系のサイズが十分に小さくなると系のエネルギー準位が離散的になり、巨視的な古典系に対応状態がない新しい物性が期待される。つまり、系のエネルギー準位構造を直接反映した量子的振る舞いがみられるようになる。したがって系の量子エネルギー準位の確定が重要になる。本研究では高速磁場掃引による高分解磁化過程の観測に基づいてミクロなレベルで量子エネルギー準位を決定し、非断熱遷移に関連した物理現象を追及することを目的とする研究を実施した。具体的には、十分よく規定された少数個粒子集団であるナノスケール系として非磁性結晶RbMgF3中に適度に磁性イオンMn2+をドープした反強磁性二量体系ならびに反強磁性2核錯体Cs3Cr2X9(X=Cl、Br)や多核分子磁性体Mn12、Fe12、V15を含む多彩な分子磁石結晶体について最高54Tのパルス磁場を用いた磁化測定を行った。これらの系において、量子エネルギー準位の交差に関連する明確な磁化過程の逐次転移や大きな磁気ヒステリシスを伴う緩和現象の異常を観測し、量子エネルギー準位構造との関連を議論した。引き続いて定量的な実験データを確定して理論的解析を行い、とくに非断熱遷移に関連した物理現象を明らかにするための基礎が確立した。結果は既に学術論文や学会発表として部分的に公表を行った。
