Research Abstract

本研究のテーマは、太陽系外惑星系のうち軌道離心率が異常に高いものや軌道公転軸が中心星の自転軸とずれているものの由来を探ることにある。原因としてとりわけ注目されているのは古在効果(中心星が連星系をなしている場合、伴星からの重力的影響により中心星まわりの惑星の軌道が乱されること)および惑星散乱(複数惑星系において惑星同士の重力的影響により互いに軌道を乱し合うこと)であるが、観測的困難からそのどちらが支配的であるか等の観測データに基づいた統計的議論はなされていないのが実情である。そのため、本研究では主に直接撮像法を用いて中心星周りの伴星探しを行い、それに基づいて古在効果の有無を決定することで古在効果および惑星散乱の起源を統計的に知ることを目的としている。本年度は3年間の総まとめとして、足りなかった追観測データをすばる望遠鏡を用いて取得し、さらにこれまでの観測データを統計的に取り扱った。軌道離心率が高い8つの惑星系においては、本研究を通じて2つ系に新規伴星天体を発見した。既知の連星系を加えると3つの系が連星系をなしていた。連星率は惑星保有星の連星率(12%)より高いが、サンプルサイズが小さいために有意差は見えず、軌道離心率と伴星との関係を強く支持する結果は得られなかった。
一方、公転軸がずれている系では新規に2系で有力な伴星候補天体を発見した。追観測上の困難から多少の不定性があるが、既知の伴星と併せると、15系のうち8から12の系に伴星があることが分かった。これは惑星保有星の連星率よりも有意に高い。連星の存在によって公転軸が傾く可能性を示唆していると言え、初めて観測的に示された結果である。
さらに、複数トランジット惑星系において新たに伴星候補天体を発見した。この系では惑星の公転軸は主星の自転軸と揃っており、伴星の存在がただちに惑星の軌道に影響を与えるわけではないことを示している。
