Research Abstract

1.エンドプレートによるプラズマ空間電位制御と合成純度向上
窒素内包フラーレン(N@C_<60>)の高効率合成を目的とした,窒素分子イオン(N_2^+)密度の増加のために,高周波(RF)パワーを増加する実験を行った.しかしながら,RFパワー(P面増加によってプラズマ空間電位が減少し,高純度のN@C_<60>合成に必須の十分なN_2^+イオン照射エネルギー(E_i)が供給できないという問題が生じた.従って,プラズマ空間電位を独立に制御するために,電位を印加できるエンドプレートをプラズマ中に挿入した.その結果,エンドプレート電位制御によるプラズマ空間電位制御により,RFパワーを増加させてもプラズマ空間電位がほぼ一定となり,P_<RF>=1000Wにおいて,E_l=80eVを実現し,高純度のN@C_<60>が合成できることを実証した.
2.フラーレンC_<60>挙動制御による合成純度向上
これまではプラズマパラメータを制御(N_2^+密度の増加,N_2^+照射エネルギー制御)することにより,N@C_<60>の合成純度を増加させてきたが,さらに合成純度を向上させるために,フラーレンの形状,挙動を制御することを試みた.具体的には,フラーレンの昇華温度を制御することでフラーレンのクラスター化を制御した.フラーレン昇華用オーブン温度及びRFパワー増加によるN@C_<60>合成純度の変化を調べた結果,オーブン温度が増加することによってN@C_<60>合成純度が急激に増加することが明らかとなった.また,オーブン温度が高いほど,RFパワー増加による合成純度の増加率も上がることが分かった.この理由は,オーブン温度が増加すると,C60クラスターが個々のC_<60>に分散して昇華されるため,N_2^+とC_<60>間の衝突反応効率が増加するためと考えている.以上の結果,従来のプラズマ方法による合成純度より約1000倍以上純度が向上し,現在世界で最高の純度である0.83%を達成した.
