Research Abstract

本研究課題では巨大スピン蓄積効果を用いた電子相制御を目標としている。その実現に向けて、最終年度では相転移を発現する様々な物質系へのスピン注入及び、スピン蓄積の強磁性体における緩和過程に関して調べた。
具体的には、強磁性-常磁性転移を示す金属Gdに加えて、半導体EuS、Gd-doped EuSを用いた。本研究課題では面内スピンバルブ型のスピン蓄積素子にこれらの物質を接合して相転移を電気的に測定することを計画していた。当初の計画の素子を作製したところ、しかしながら、困難が生じることがわかった。そこで、スピン注入の方法として、ナノ細線を用いる面内スピンバルブ構造にこだわらず、マイクロサイズのスピン蓄積素子によるスピンポンピング法を用いた。Si基板上に高周波導波路を作製し、EuSGd/A1/Py細線に対して高周波磁場を印加した。その結果、DC電圧を得て、Gd-doped EuSにおけるスピンホール効果の観測に成功した。また、磁気相転移点付近でのスピンホール電圧の符号反転を観測することを明らかにした。これらはEuSGdへのスピン注入が成功していることを示しており、スピン注入量、温度、印加磁場の関係を調べることで、磁気相転移に対するスピン注入の影響を調べることが可能となった。また、マイクロ波パワー依存性から熱の影響も議論できた。
さらに、スピン蓄積の酸化物中での緩和現象や、複注入端子を用いた面内スピンバルブにおけるスピン吸収、強磁性体中のスピン緩和における異方性(磁化方向とスピン蓄積の偏極方向の関係)など、相補的に研究を実施した。
