宇宙大規模構造の形成現場における銀河の星形成活動の探査

Research Abstract

平成25年度は、主に赤方偏移1.52(約90億年前の宇宙)の電波銀河4C65.22領域の開拓に取り組んだ。研究代表者らはすばる望遠鏡のSuprim-CamのB, r', z'バンド、MOIRCSのJ, H, Ksバンドでのブロードバンド撮像データに加え、MOIRCSのナローバンドフィルターNB1657(λ=1.657μm, Δλ=0.019μm)が赤方偏移1.52のHα輝線を捉えられることに着目し、同領域の多色撮像サーベイを行った。
解析の結果、電波銀河に付随すると考えられる銀河の強い密度超過が見つかった。もっとも密度の高い部分(銀河団コア)から半径200キロパーセク程度の領域には星形成を行っていない赤い銀河が集中し、一方でそれを取り囲むようにHα輝線銀河(星形成銀河)が分布するようすは、近傍宇宙(赤方偏移<1)の銀河団の状況と類似しており、今回見つかった密度超過領域が成熟した銀河団であることを示唆している。ここでHα輝線銀河にかぎった場合には、その星形成率(SFR)や比星形成率(specificSFR)について環境による有意な違いは見られず、また星形成銀河の星形成率-星質量関係(いわゆるメインシーケンス)についても銀河環境による系統的な違いは非常に小さいことが分かった。ただし、Hα輝線光度(LHα)とBバンド等級から求めた静止系紫外線光度(Luv)に基づいて各銀河のダスト吸収量AHαを見積もると、高密度環境下の銀河ほどダストに深く隠されているという興味深い可能性も見えており、結果の解釈には注意が必要である。本研究の成果は現在Astrophysical Journal誌に投稿中であり、近日中に受理される見通しである。
