ガンマ線と近赤外可視偏光・分光の同時連続観測によるブレーザーの放射機構の研究

Research Abstract

ブレーザー天体はジェットを伴う活動銀河の中でも、そのジェットを正面から観測している天体である。しかし、その放射の元となる電子の加速機構やジェットの構造はよく知られていない。これらを明らかにするためには、両放射成分の時間発展を精度よく調べる必要があり、私はガンマ線衛星フェルミと東広島天文台かなた望遠鏡による多波長同時観測により、ブレーザーの放射メカニズム、特に高エネルギー放射の起源を探ることを目指している。今年度は、ブレーザー天体CTA102の増光にあわせ光赤外線大学間連携を用いた多波長ToO観測を実施した。その結果、これまでほぼ観測例のない光度・色・偏光のhour-scaleでの短期変動を捉えた。結果は天文学会等で発表するとともにLetter論文がThe Astrophysical Journal誌から出版された(平成25年4月)。ガンマ線で検出されている数少ない狭輝線セイファート1型銀河(NLSy1) PMN J0948+0022の、近赤外線帯域・ガンマ線フレアに合わせ、かなた望遠鏡を用いたフォローアップ観測を実施した。この天体は、近年ジェットを持つことが確認された新しい種族の活動銀河核として注目されている天体であり、ジェヅトの形成機構解明に大きな知見をもたらすことが期待されている。かなた望遠鏡の観測により、数分～数十分という非常に速く、可視光度と偏光度がきわめてよく相関した変動を検出した。これはNLSy1型のジェットにおいても、ブレーザージェットに極めて似た振る舞いが観測されることを示唆する。NLSy1型の天体で、このような変動をとらえたのは世界初であり、極めてインパクトの高い結果である。結果は国内外の学会で発表するとともに、Letter論文がThe Astrophysical Journal誌から出版された(平成25年9月)。
