Research Abstract

主な実績として以下の2つを報告する。
(1)カナダのトロント大学との共同研究で、銅酸化物超伝導体La2-xSrxCuO4のSr高濃度領域の試料についての中性子非弾性散乱実験を行い、磁気的揺らぎと超伝導消失との相関を調べた。その結果、超伝導相に特徴的に見られる、長周期磁気密度変調はSr濃度が増加し、超伝導転移温度が低下するとともに振幅が弱くなることが明らかになった。さらにSr濃度が増え、超伝導が消えた試料では、長周期磁気密度変調は少なくとも低周波数領域に関しては消失している。これらのことから、超伝導発現と長周期磁気密度変調の揺らぎの振幅は強く相関していることが予想される。
(2)アメリカ、ブルックヘブン国立研究所との共同研究として、銅酸化物超伝導体La2-xBaxCuO4(X=1/8)の中性子非弾性散乱実験をラザフォード研究所のパルス中性子散乱装置MAPSを用いて行なった。この試料は、いわゆる電荷ストライプを示す、最も理想的な系であるが、大型単結晶育成が困難で、今まで広い周波数領域での中性子散乱実験は出来なかった。我々は単結晶育成の段階からブルックヘブン研究所と共同研究を行ない、約60グラムの単結晶育成に成功した。中性子散乱実験の結果、約200meVという高いエネルギー(周波数)領域までの磁気信号の観測に成功した。得られた分散関係は、別の超伝導体YBa2Cu3Oyの分散関係と似ており、銅酸化物超伝導体に共通のスピン揺らぎが存在することを示唆している。また理論計算との比較から、この分散関係がいわゆる磁気梯子系の特徴を示すことがわかった。
