Research Abstract |
Since the latter half of 1970s, problems of community in housing have been in a hot argument in Japan. For example, a number of architects and researchers have been involved in discussions on townscape, community space design, historical conservation, and so on. But actual conditions of housing have not been so much improved as have been expected, because of the difficulties concerning various kinds of rights in housing. Namely complicated mixture of the different kinds of rights, such as land-owners' rights, each dweller's rights, dwellers' common rights, etc., has been a big obstacle against the realization of expected environment design in housing. Although many foreign examples of good townscape, community space design and historical conservation have been introduced and learnt in order to improve the Japanese situation of housing, few people have been conscious of the differences of their back grounds, namely tenure and rights to use relating to housing. More, few people have enough knowledge about common sense relating co-ordination of rights of various people in each country. This research clarified such differences of the backgrounds among different countries in order to consider methodologies better living environment.
