Research Abstract

Full-scale production line of the cylindrical Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) that was designed and set up in a factory of Watanabe Jigyosho Co. Ltd. In 2000, started to trial manufacture of structural or non structural posts using cedar, larch and pine veneers for the domestic new buildings Through this trial use, the success of practical applications of the cylindrical LVL was verified. The posts used were as follows :
1) Two main posts of the entrance hall in Teijo kindergarten in Noshiro
Outer diameter : 800mmφ, thickness of wall : 80mm, height : 6,300mm and 2,600mm
2) Six columns along the front corridor in the Cultural Exchange Center in Yuri-town, Akita
Outer diameter : 600mmφ, thickness of wall : 47mm, height : 1,500mm
3) Twenty-four decorative posts set outside of the Multi-purpose huge building in Kyowa-town, Akita
Outer diameter : 750mmφ, thickness of wall : 46mm, height : 5,500mm or 5,170mm
4) Two Cabinets for Local Information at Michi-No-Eki of Yadate Ridge and Futatui, Akita
Outer diameter : 700mmφ, thickness of wal l: 45mm, height : 1,900mm
The costs of these products were analyzed and the production was assessed to be profitable.
