Research Abstract

We generated several skin specific gene-disrupted mice.
1. Stat3-deficient mice.
UV irradiation caused severe apoptosis in stat3-deficient skin.
2. Bcl-xL deficient mice.
We found in vivo cooperation between Bcl-xL and PI3K to prevent apoptosis in the skin.
3. Arnt deficient mice.
We found that regulation of ceramide compositions by Arnt is crucial for maintaining epidermal barrier function.
4. Pten deficient mice.
We found that Pten play an essential role for skin tumorigenesis.
