Research Abstract

1. Investigation and Collecting of Texts of Jia-li, Family Rituals
The library investigated in this research project is Beijing Library, Shanghai Library, Kyoto University, Naikaku-bunko, and Yoyo-bunko. As the result of this investigation, the published time and characteristic of texts were clarified in detail.
2. Specifying of the Author of Jia-li
On the basis of the data of the texts, prefaces, and afterwords, it was proved that the author of Jia-li should be Zhu xi himself though it was an unfinished manuscript.
3. Historical Study on Ancestral Rites focusing on Offering Hall and Jia-li in Song Period
The essay "Offering Hall and Ancestral Rites in Song Period" in Ritual System and Ritual Studies in China edited by Ichiro Kominami (2001) made a positive research on the situation of ancestral rites or ancestor worship held by the literati in Song China.
4. Reading a Paper in conference
I read a paper "On Offering Hall in Song China" in a conference concerning Chinese kinship held in Osaka City University in November, 2002.
5. Collating Jia-li text with other version
In this field I used Song version as the original text and collated it with eight versions. Because preparation of the critical edition is an indispensable work, it undoubtedly provides a basic data in order to develop the research on the content of Jia-li.
