Research Abstract |
The aim of this research project is to survey the collaboration between universities and elementary/secondary schools in the preparation of school leaders. The following items were implemented : 1. Attitude surveys in Japan (interviews and questionnaires) Stakeholders in preparation of school leaders (Principals, managers of teacher training centers, etc.) were questioned about their ideas how to create collaborative relationships universities and their schools/centers. 2. Case studies on some promising, innovative, or exceptional programs for preparing school leaders in the graduate schools in the United States Those programs includes University of Washington-Seattle : Danforth Educational Leadership Program (DELP), University of Vanderbilt : Principals' Leadership Academy of Nashville (PLAN), SUNY at Buffalo : Specialist in Educational Administration Diploma (SEA), and California State University-Fresno : Administration and Supervision Option. Many useful findings and suggestions were gained by these surveys in order to build the collaboration system in Japan.
