Research Abstract |
Since 2000, I have collected documents concerning the Ichinomiya System in the Kyushu areas excluding Buzen-no-kuni and Tsushima Iki islands, researching in the Imperial Household Agency Library, the Historiographic Institute of the University of Tokyo, the Kumamoto Prefectural Library, the Kagoshima Prefectural Museum of culture Reimeikan, the Fukuoka City Museum, and the Kumamoto Municipal Institute of Historiography. These documents include those of the shrines which competed with one another for acquiring the status of the Ichinomiya of that country, those of local administrative organizations which gave licenses of Ichinomiya, to the shrines, those of the Shinto rituals, and those of the feudal lords who paid the repairing expenses. All of the above documents will be of importance for the study of the Ichinomiya System. Analyzing these documents, I have reported the characteristics and problems about the Ichinomiya systems in Kyushu areas and my research results on the establishment and its progress of the Ichinomiya systems in Satsuma and Chikugo-no-kuni at the meetings of the Society of Ichinomiya Studies. Further presentations will be done continuously. In addition, I have made papers concerning the Ishinomiya systems of Satsuma, Ohsumi, Hyuga. Especially, my main concern has been to the systems of both Satsuma and Ohsumi through the publication several papers, Especially, the analysis of Satsuma has been deepened through the consideration of trades with foreign countries, the analyses of Nitta-hachiman-gu with respect to the formation of its territories and its dominion, and the examination of the relationship between Nitta-hachiman-gu and Kaimon Shrine. From now on, I am going to elucidate the Ichinomiya system of Satsuma thoroughly, and clarify the establishment and its development of the Ichinomiya systems in Ohsumi and other countries by analyzing the above documents in more detail.
