Research Abstract |
Nowadays, input current harmonic interferences are caused by switching power supplies, which have been widely used in the electronic and electric systems. For this reason, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan and so forth indicate the guideline with respect to input current harmonic interferences. Thus, the suppression of the input current harmonics is one of the social problems as the electromagnetic compatibility in the low frequency region. On the other hand, it is one of the other important social problems to increase the power efficiency of the switching power supplies and to save the electric energy in case of making use of the electronic and electric systems. From the view point of solving the above two problems, novel types of converters and inverters have been researched and developed. As a result, we developed the inverter as an electronic ballast for fluorescent lamps, soft-switching converter, active filter and their digital controller using the digital signal processor. The design-oriented analysis of the proposed inverter and converter was performed. With respect to input current harmonics, the proposed inverters and converters, which have high efficiency, satisfy the IEC 61000 Class C and IEC 61000 Class D, respectively. Furthermore, using the digital signal processor in the control circuit, high power factor of 0.99 and low total harmonic distortion of 1% in the input current can be achieved.
