Research Abstract |
In 2000, a database for rock surface strong motion time histories including the records from the 1995 Hyogoken Nambu Earthquake and those from near field earthquakes has been developed. On this basis, the earthquake motion prediction model, which was developed in 1985, has been modified focussing on the effect of the rupture direction on the ground motion intensity as well as these frequency characteristics. The prediction model for vertical ground motion has been also developed. In 2001, the compatibility of the prediction model to the ground motion records obtained at near field areas has been discussed. The model has been applied for the prediction of the seismic intensity in Tokai Region for the hypothetical Tokai Earthquake and Tonankai Earthquake. The computer program code including program manual for the earthquake motion prediction model developed during this project has been published.
