Research Abstract |
We investigated the mechanism and treatment of colorectal cancer with hepatic and pulmonary metastasis. Mainly we approached in that concerned with adhesion molecule. In past history, Laminin, Vitronectin and E-cadherin in 1994-1996, Integrin β1 in 1996-1997, urinary GGH (glucosyl-galactosyl-hydroxylysine) in 1998, MMP-2 and MMP-9 in 1999, were studied. This study was undertaken to investigate other molecules. Fibronectin, TGF-β, HGF/c-met and EGF. These molecules are related to cancer proliferation. The level of hepatic metastasis group was significantly higher than the no-metastasis group in serum at preoperative stage. Immunohistochemically, these stain were almost positive in the hepatic metastasis group rather than the no-metastasis group. Recently, we tried to gene profile analysis in order to clarify the relationship between metastasis and adhesion molecule.
