Research Abstract

We investigated the mechanism and treatment of colorectal cancer with hepatic and pulmonary metastasis. Mainly we approached in that concerned with adhesion molecule. In past history, Laminin, Vitronectin and E-cadherin in 1994-1996, Integrin β1 in 1996-1997, urinary GGH (glucosyl-galactosyl-hydroxylysine) in 1998, MMP-2 and MMP-9 in 1999, were studied.
This study was undertaken to investigate other molecules. Fibronectin, TGF-β, HGF/c-met and EGF. These molecules are related to cancer proliferation. The level of hepatic metastasis group was significantly higher than the no-metastasis group in serum at preoperative stage.
Immunohistochemically, these stain were almost positive in the hepatic metastasis group rather than the no-metastasis group. Recently, we tried to gene profile analysis in order to clarify the relationship between metastasis and adhesion molecule.
