Expression profiling and cluster analysis of bone and soft tissue tumors using cDNA expressin arrays.
Bone and soft tissue sarcoma are diverse in their natural history and in responsiveness in treatments. Here we have characterized variation in gene expression patterns in set of 44 surgical specimens of human bone and soft tissue tumors from 29 individuals using complementary DNA microarrays represent 1176 human genes. We analyzed gene expression patterns in grossly dissected normal or malignant human soft tissues from the same individual. We also analyzed gene expression patterns in before and after chemotherapy, and two tumors were paired with lung metastasis from the same patients. Gene expression patterns in two tumor samples from same individual were also always more similar to each other than either was to any other sample. And, we obtained 6 genes that were high expression and 27 were low expression. But these tumors could not be classified into subtypes distinguished by differences in their gene expression patterns.
