Research Abstract |
The goal of our investlgation was to utmze less invaslve vascuiar irnaging techniques. CT anglography and MR angiography, for the dtagnosls of maxnlofactal region in the optimai methods. The optimal imaging parameters of CT anglography were defined and applied to 23 cases with maxillofacial lesions. The injection rate of iodine contrast media should be 2 ml/sec : faster rate than that did not improve the image quality, CT angiography was extremely useful for the cases of AV malformation, however, its value was considered limited for the diagnosis of small vessels. As to MR angiography, we compared the usefulness of phase contrast and time of flight technique . The former was superior to the latter in that it could provide the vascular images of larger area and visuanze veins of slow flow more clearly. However, it requlres much longer exanaination time, which reduced the clinical validitity. We applied either of these two methods to 15 cases with maximofacial lesions. However, similar to CT anglography, its diagnostic value for small vessels, most of which were of slow flow, was considered limited. On the other hand, we also evaiuated the usefulness of Gadolinium enhanced 3D MR angiography in maxillofacial region. This technique in which contrast media extremely improve the visuanzation of small vessels may be the most optimal one providiog vascular linages of maxillofactal reglon.
