Research Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the continuous nursing support program for the elderly with myocardial infarction.
The subjects were 9 patients with first attack of myocardial infarction over 65 years of age. They were provided continuous nursing support based on the program within one year after discharge. And they were interviewed 4 times within one year after discharge and measured the Index of Social Activities. The results are:
The subjects level of social activities within 3 months after discharge was lower than before the onset of the diseases, and from 6 months after discharge their scope of activities become wider after the onset by stages.
The continuous nursing support program was found to be effective for the elderly with myocardial infarction. It is important to provide the continuous nursing support to keep social activities level of elderly patients.
