Research Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to clarify the cause for degradation of motor skill and ability focusing on elementary school children. Three elementary schools were chosen as examples (urban school, school of an agricultural area, school which is located in a residential area). By comparing those schools, cause of degradation was identified. lb solve this task, observational evaluation was made, and development of motor abilities was investigated by using it.
The running ability in boys was affected by both changing of motor pattern and physical fitness till 4^<th> grade, then it was mainly affected by physical fitness. The development of jumping ability depended on both developments of motor pattern of jumping and physical fitness till 5^<th> grade, while that for girls depended on jumping motion throughout whole grades. Throwing ability was affected by motor pattern of throwing till 3^<rd> grade in boys, then it was affected by physical fitness. On the other hand, girls' throwing ability has being affected by motor pattern, not physical fitness throughout elementary school age.
Children in urban school with features of narrow ground and undeveloped sports club organization tended to be poor in some motor abilities. And, over weight led to immature motor ability, especially in girls. In addition, assimilation ability of lower limbs was related with some motor abilities.
