Research Abstract

In general, how to arouse learning motivation in physical education class of pupils has been a basic and critical theme in a long-term school education. In this study, a Diagnostic System of Learning Motivation in P.E.Class was developed to provide useful information to teachers who try to arouse the learning motivation of pupils. The system is a kind of multiphasic test and includes following test batteries.
1. Learning Motivation in P.E.Class : Shortened Version of the AMPET (Nishida, 1989)
(1) Learning Strategy, (2) Overcoming Obstacles, (3) Diligence and Seriousness, (4) Competence of Motor Ability, (5) Value of Leaning, (6) Tension Anxiety, (7) Failure Anxiety
2. Types of Learning Motivation
(1) Motivation Type, (2) Average Type, (3) Conflict Type, (4) Amotivation Type, (5) Anxiety Type, (6) Competence related Anxiety Type
3. Support Factors of Learning Motivation
(1) Interest of P.E class, (2) Goal Setting, (3) Expectancy of Improvement, (4) Teacher's Guidance, (5) Friend's Support, (6 … More ) Moods in P.E class, (7) Physical Health
4. Preference for Learning Behaviors
(1) Individual Learning, (2) Group Learning, (3) Careful Learning, (4) Active Learning, (5) Competitive Learning

In view of the results, it was concluded that the system developed in this study was useful to diagnose the learning motivation in physical education class of pupils. Further practical studies for the next step are necessary to use this system and to arouse learning motivation in physical education class of pupils. Less
