Research Abstract |
The importance of an environmental education is recognized and works actively at the school. However, an environmental education is often taught by a subjective method. The method of measurement is effective to the objective understanding of nature and the environment. Even the elementary school children can do an environmental education by an objective method if there is an appropriate teaching tool. Then, we developed the measurement tool (data logger) called "Hands on Sensor" for an environmental education. Hands on Sensor has the following characteristics. It is possible to master even by the elementary school lower classes student. It is possible to take out. It can measure by the manual operation and the automatic operation. It is possible to store the measurement data by use only this body. The sensor can be exchanged. We chose the measurement object which could use "Hands on Sensor" from a measurement object in environmental education. And we developed sensor units for these measurement objects. The sensor units that we developed experimentally are "an air temperature sensor", "a water temperature sensor", "a relative humidity sensor", "a wait electric current sensor (a commercial power supply use wide band electric current sensor)", "a pH sensor", etc. Furthermore, we studied a practical use method of "Hands on Sensor", in the case of environmental education and science education.
