Research Abstract |
In this research, the authors developed teaching materials for effective and efficient Information Ethics education that can encompass from elementary/secondary to advanced education. These materials have been implemented both as text based and Web based learning/training system and put into practice in classrooms. Research results are as follows : 1.Nine essential areas were extracted from the broad range of subjects concerning Information Ethics education. For each of these areas objectives/contents and teaching methods were specified 2.Practical teaching materials were developed and further improved by active teachers in the field who collaborated in the research. 3 Studied current status ofWBT systems and e-Learning environment both in Japan and overseas. Reviewed and introduced two of the college level Information Ethics courses offered in USA at conferences for researchers in the field in Japan. 4.Developed Web-CAI system that can be easily adopted in school environment. This system was implemented on st^dard UNK server, not reo^^ Sets of exercises were put onto this system to be utilized as Computer Based Testing system., 5 These teaching materials were further analysed for its ease of use and effectiveness in classroom environment tor high school through college level courses. Some of these materials implemented on Web-CAI system were utilized in actual classes and some preliminary results on its effectiveness were obtained Results of our research were presented and published at numerous research meetings and conferences in the field of Information Processing and Educational Technology. It is expected that this system and teaching materials will be further put into practice at wider range of classrooms so that the effectiveness of the materials and teaching/testing methods can be analysed more extensively.
