Research Abstract |
Clinical medicine is mandatory for students who are learning acupuncture or physical therapy, but this entails numerous pictures and photographs for diagnostic imaging. Tactile charts were made to help totally blind students to understand about diagnostic imaging. Medical images made by x-rays, ultrasound, MRI and radionuclide imaging are formed on gray-scale x-ray films. We investigated editing rules to simplify original images made by x-rays and radionuclide imaging according to the respective method of diagnostic imaging and to convert them into tactile charts to help totally blind students to better understand clinical medicine. Some of these tactile charts have been evaluated.
