Research Abstract |
This cosmopolitan species is, as pointed out by Seaward (1976), geographically ubiquitous, ecologically versatile and taxonomically polymorphic. Many infraspecific species are demonstrated, but there are many intermediate forms. Its substrate are variable. This species grows most frequently on rocks, but rarely on moss and fallen tree-trunks. During the study of Lecanora subfusca group (Miyawaki 1988); I recorded 24 points where Lecanora muralis are growing from Hokkaido Island to Honshu Island. from 1978-1983. Eleven points were investigated by myself, but I collected Lecanora muralis only two localities Wakasa-cho and former Hiroshima University Campus which building was suffered by the atomic bomb in 1945. In former Hiroshima University building, Lecanora muralis was found on only cement part between the block. I considered Japan Island were polluted by the acidy rain from the east continent. Further study of about the germination test must be needed for clarify this hypotheses. Including germination pattern, the relationship between Lecanora muralis, L. niponica, L. pulverulenta L. subimmergens L. imshaugu were studied by using caladistic method. Takeshita et al (1998) reported that before the first branching the germination number was 1-2 in the Lecanora species. But we found 3-5 new germination. By using caladistic method, the nearest species of Lecanora muralis was L. pulverulenta among those species.
