Research Abstract

本研究では,スパッタにより固体表面に数nmの薄膜を被覆させ,その薄膜が接触によって他の固体表面に移着することを利用して,真実接触面積を検出する方法を提案し,検討してきた.これまでの実験によってスパッタ薄膜を用いた方法によってμm以下の接触部の検出が可能であることが確かめられてきた.そこで本年度も,約10nmR_aの微小な粗さを鋼球試料表面につけた後にガラス平面に押し付ける実験と,滑らかに仕上げた鋼球試料を滑らかなガラス平面に押し付ける実験を真空環境化で行ない,その場合の接触部の様子についての検討をおこなった.
はじめに,表面粗さが測定範囲20×20μm^2で約10nmR_aになるように仕上げた鋼球の粗い面を滑らかなガラス平面にそれぞれ同じ荷重でヘルツ接触させた実験により得られた主な結果は昨年度報告した結果とほぼ一致した結果が得られた.今後はさらに粗い面の圧力分布を考慮した検討を行っていく予定である.
つぎに,試料表面の吸着分子(特に水分子)の影響を極力取り除くために,真空デシケータ(耐真空度約13.3Pa)内に押し付け実験装置を入れ,滑らかな鋼球を滑らかなガラス平面にヘルツ接触させる実験を行なった.実験は,真空度を100Paまで変化させて接触実験を行ったが,現時点までで大気中の実験結果との明確な違いを得るに至っていない.今後さらにデータを積み重ねるとともに,試料表面のエネルギーを考慮したJKR(Jonson-Kendall-Roberts)モデルやDMT(Derjaguin-Muller-Toporov)モデルとも併せて検討を行っていく予定である.
