Research Abstract

超伝導現象は特異な物理現象として科学者の注目を集めているのみならず、医療用MRI装置、NMR装置やSQUID磁束計、高磁場マグネット、磁気浮上式鉄道など様々な応用を持ち、実用上も非常に重要である。特に2008年に発見された新たな高温超伝導体である鉄系超伝導体の高品質バルク体の作製及び特性向上を中心的な課題とし、T_c、上部臨界磁場(H_<c2>)、臨界電流特性の向上を目指した。特にT_cの向上はH_<c2>を大きく向上させる可能性があることから、鉄系超伝導体で最も高いT_cが報告されていたSmFeAs (O, F)(Sm1111)の作製と評価を中心に行った。試料作製時の熱処理条件を最適化した結果、最適熱処理条件は900℃であることがわかった。これは従来報告されている焼成温度が1150-1200℃であったのに比較すると300℃程度低い温度である。この条件で作製された試料のT_cは58Kと、従来報告されているより3K近く高いことが分かった。試料の格子定数は熱処理条件に大きく依存し、焼成条件が低い方がF置換量が高く、そのためにT_c, H_<c2>が高いことが判明した。このように、世界でも最高品質のSm1111バルク体の作製条件を確立することに成功した。また、この条件で作製した試料の微細組織を観察した結果、アンダードープ試料では不純物が少なく、粒界の繋がりも良いことが分かった。磁化率測定では二段転移を示し、粒内・粒間電流に大きな違いがあることが示唆され、Fドープ量が増加すると不純物の増加により転移はブロードになったことから、アンダードープ領域の試料の方が応用上高いポテンシャルを有することが分かった。この他、Sm1111の各サイトの置換効果及び金属元素添加効果の解明、またペロブスカイトブロックを含む鉄系超伝導体の作製とSm1111との比較などを行った。
