Outline of Annual Research Achievements

We found numerical evidences of the onset of directional motion in conned systems
of spherical model swimmers called ”squirmers". By analyzing the hydrodynamic interactions between the particles, both in the far-eld and in the near-eld approximations, we show that the self-propelling mechanism has a decisive eect on the collective behavior and give some necessary conditions to the observation of
ocking states in suspensions of spherical objects.
