階層的組織化による濃度傾斜型活性層の実現と有機太陽電池への応用

Research Abstract

本研究では、有機太陽電池の高効率化をもたらすメカニズムを明らかにするために、薄膜中の分子配向性と膜厚方向におけるマクロな相分離構造の関係に着目して研究を実施した。p型高分子とn型低分子材料の膜厚方向の濃度分布を定量的に評価するために、我々が提案したエネルギー分散型X線分析(EDS)を利用した。今年度は、膜厚方向の相分離構造制御を行うために、p型高分子Poly (3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)(P3HT)並びにn型分子Phenyl-C61-butyric acid methylester (PC61BM)混合系を用いて検討した。その結果、立体規則性の高いp型高分子(regioregular P3HT)にアモルファス相を形成するp型高分子(regiorandom P3HT)を添加することで求める濃度傾斜構造を実現できることが分かった。具体的には、ITO基板近傍ではp型高分子P3HTの濃度が高く, 上部のAl電極に近づくにつれてn型分子PCBMの濃度が高くなることを見出した。
作製した有機薄膜太陽電池は, 変換効率が3.1%から3.8%に向上した。このデバイス特性の向上は短絡電流密度(Jsc)と開放電圧(voc)に起因しており、vocの向上はRRa-P3HTの深いHOMOレベルによるものである。一方、Fill factor (FF)の向上と直列抵抗(Rs)の減少は濃度傾斜構造に強く依存していることがEDS分析から明らかになった。さらに、本研究で開発した濃度傾斜構造を他のp型高分子材料(PNz4T)へと応用したところ変換効率8.9%を達成することが出来た。(理化学研究所 瀧宮グループとの共同研究)。この変換恋率は、2012年時点で世界最高の変換効率9.2%(Z. He et al., Nature Photonics 2012,6, 591-595.)に迫る値である。この様に、我々は有機薄膜太陽電池の高効率化における濃度傾斜構造形成の重要性を明らかにすることが出来た。これらの結果は、我々が当初提案した積層型高分子太陽電池に留まらず、通常のバルクヘテロ構造においても濃度傾斜構造形成が不可欠であることを示すものである。
