Outline of Annual Research Achievements

昨年度までの解析の結果,光と物質の超強結合下において,レーザーは奇数次の高調波を伴って発振するという,通常とは異なる振る舞いを示すことが分かっていた.本年度,さらに解析を進めることで,高調波だけではなく双安定性も示すことが分かった.昨年度までの解析において直面していた,どのゲージの元で計算を行うかという問題については,むしろ異なる2つのゲージでそれぞれ計算し比較することで,用いた近似の妥当性を判断することにした.すなわち,定量的に異なる結果が得られたとしても,定性的に同じ振る舞いがどちらのゲージでも得られれば,定性的に信用できる結果と判断できる.この方針に従い,具体的な物質系を想定することなく,超強結合下でのレーザー発振の一般的な性質を議論することができた.多数の2準位系を想定した上でレーザー発振の巨視的な振る舞いを解析し,その結果は学術雑誌に現在投稿中である.出力光の量子力学的な性質については,信用に足る計算にまでは至っていないものの,高調波発生や双安定性など,非古典的な光の直接的なレーザー発振を期待させる振る舞いが得られた.
また,レーザー発振を解析する上で,各ゲージでどのようなHamiltonianを用いれば良いのかについても解析を行った.光と物質の超強結合下においては,誤ったHamiltonianを用いた場合,系を励起せずとも場が自発的に振幅を持つ相転移現象が起こることが知られている.本研究では,信用できるHamiltonianを導くことに成功し,その結果は学術雑誌にて発表済みである.
超強結合下におけるレーザーの双安定性は,実証実験する上で明確な指標となる.多数の2準位系を共振器に閉じ込めた系として,有機分子を含む微小共振器と,超伝導回路による多数の人工原子を含むマイクロ波共振器が有力であり,それらを作製可能なグループと実証実験に向けた議論を行った.
