Research Abstract

NEMS (Nano Electro Mechanical Systems)応用に向け、ヒステリシスが無くそして大きな変位を有する圧電材料の開発を達成する目的のために、特殊な単結晶基板を使用することで代表的な圧電材料であるPb(Zr, Ti)03[PZT]膜の結晶構造の制御を行った。更に電界下における各結晶構造の変化を観察しそれらが圧電特性に及ぼす影響を明らかにした。
今年度は結晶構造を制御した薄膜の圧電特性の評価を行った。
特に各(100), (110), (111)に構造制御された正方晶PZTおよび菱面体晶PZTをpulse電界印加によって直接結晶構造の変化を観察することにより圧電特性を評価した。方法としては、in-situ圧電/分極同時測定を放射光による電界下X線回折測定(XRD, SPring-8)を用いて行った。電界下のXRD測定を行うことにより各結晶構造の変化(格子伸縮および分極のチルト角度の変化)を観察できた。また両者の結晶構造ともに高速パルス(200ns)による測定でも分極軸のチルトが格子伸長ともに半分の割合で圧電特性に寄与していることも確認した。両者ともに分極軸のチルト成分が大きな歪を誘起することを明らかにした。これらの歪成分が従来の測定方法である圧電応答顕微鏡(PFM)で測定したマクロな歪を良く一致した。
しかし、正方晶構造と菱面体晶構造を比較すると、正方晶構造がより速い速度の電界にも応答することがわかった。これは正方晶構造が菱面体晶構造よりも基板の拘束が大きいためことが確認できた。従って、正方晶構造を有したPZT膜では電界に対してヒステリシスがなく更に大きな変位を誘起することを本研究では見出した。
