Research Abstract |
The construction of database concerning the wild rice resources stored in gene banks is necessary for the utilization of rice breeding. because these wild rices are genetic recourses. The purpose of this research project supported by Grant-in Aid is to construct the database of wild rice strains collected in tropical and subtropical Asia. The primary goal of this research project was to accumulation of primary data concerning morphological, physiological and molecular markers in addition to field data in habitation site, as follow. 1. Field data of collection sites in wild rices (latitude, longitude, elevation, disturbance of wild rice, water and soil condition. et al.). 2. Morphological data of seed and physiological data of seedling (germination, dormancy, temperature tolerance. et al.). 3. Polymorphism of mitochondrial DNA and G-repeat in 3^<rd> intron region for the distinction among wild rice species. 4. Polymorphism of chlorophyll DNA for the distinction among wild rice strains. 5. Diversity of 45SeRNA gene number on chromosomes in somatic cells. 6. Polymorphism of microsatellite in chlorophyll DNA for the distinction among AA genome species in wild rice. 6. Visual database of wild rice seeds (hull color, length and color of awn, density and length of apical hair, length of glumes).
