Research Abstract |
his study aims to develop practical system for "periodical health check of slope stability" based on the achievements by Fukuoka on the high-precision-monitoring of ground movement by Short-time Real-time Kinematic (RTK-) GPS survey funded by the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Fundamental Research C) from 1999 - 2000. In this study we have tried to obtain observation data, to develop techniques, instruments, and software necessary for development of the system. (1)Procedure to transfer in realtime survey data from RTK-GPS receivers to PC was decided the, and specification of the displaying and editing programs to compare them with previous survey data was examined. A new RTK-GPS data display system was developed consisting of a handy PC with a wireless handy display which is light enough to hold on a hand. This system can display obtained data and evaluate them in realtime on site in 640 x 480 dot display. This system shows the position of RTK-GPS receiver antenna on the horizont

al plane at every 1-second as well as histogram of obtained location data along east-west, north-south, and up-down axes. This system helps for to evaluate the precision, accuracy, and quality of the RTK-GPS survey data in realtime and on-site, to edit the data, and to extract ground movement vector on site by comparing with previous survey data. This software is now provided to RTK-GPS users through the co-investigators. (2)the Head Investigator gave the right of the automatic servo-control tripod for RTK-GPS survey, which was developed in the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research - Fundamental Research (C)(2), to Kansai TLO. Kansai TLO has applied this automatic tripod for a patent in December 2000 and gave the right to execute exclusively this patent(-to-be) to MARUTO Co., Ltd., Tokyo. This company has developed sell model and it will be on sale in 2004. (3)Landslide movement monitoring was repeated in Nuta Landslide in Kochi Prefecture, Zentoku Landslide in Tokushima Pref., and Okimi Landslide, Niigata Pref. Obtained data were compared with other previous observation data of extensometers, borehole inclinometer, total station survey, and static GPS monitoring data, and it shows good correlation. Especially in Okimi Landslide site, differential landslide movement was observed. Less
