Research Abstract |
In the first step, we developed a new Multi-turn Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer named 'MULTUM II' consisting of only 4 troidal electric sectors. A new electric power supply for. the electric sector and an electron ionization source were constructed. The efficiency of the ion detector was tested. As a result, we can detect the ion beam after 200 cycles it was conformed that the new instrument has stable ion orbit as 'MULTUM', the instrument consisting of 8 Qlenses and 4 cylindrical electric sectors In the next step, we introduce new ion sources for ionizing organic compounds. An ESI ion source was developed and tested with a, magnetic sector, instrument. For connecting this with TOF/MS, an ion trap was developed A MALDI ion source was newly developed. An FAB source : for commercial instruments (JEOL Ltd) was modified for the TOF/MS. The performance was tested by using Angiotensin I as a sample. The mass resolution 70,000 was obtained
