Research Abstract |
1.Field Research on Rare Thai Medicinal Plants : Field research works were achieved to seek the rare medicinal plants in the areas of North East Thai (Loei Province, May 2003) and South Thai (the Malay Peninsula, December 2003). These areas are considered to be undeveloped and the biodiversities of plants are well preserved. During the research work, we could find more than 40 medicinal plants and identified their scientific names. Genus names are as follows : Croton, Litsea, Maytenus, Cyclea, Gonocaryum, Kleinhovia, Myrioperon, Uvaria, Phyllanthus, Roureopsis, Salacia, Salix, Aeginetia, Alangium, Bauhinia, Caesalpinia, Celastrus, Fagraea, Geophila, Homonoia. Some of these plants seem to be very rare and estimated to be endangered. We are now planning to cultivate some of the rare plants at a Laboratory of Thai university of our colleague. 2.Identification of Thai Medicinal Plants : Identification of Thai medicinal herbs (Haginiwa Collection), which had been collected in the last two decades and kept our Laboratory, was done with our co-worker of Chulalongkom University, Thailand. More than 100 samples were successfully identified among 150 collections. These works are important for the identification of Thai medicinal plants from environment conservational point of view.
