Research Abstract |
The results of my three-years research are consolidated in the following theses. In the main thesis (reference 2), it is proven that disputed "Lalebuch" (1597) can be divided from a statistical viewpoint in the first half and the latter half, and the first half be considered to be a work of Johann Fischart, while the latter half is only an uncompleted set of story-materials. In thesis 3 (ref. 3), it is proven that the hypothesis of Vadian(J.Watt)-authorship of the popular dialog "Karsthans" (1520/21) cannot be easily accepted as commonly expected. In thesis 5 (ref.5), style uniqueness of the prose works of Heinrich Kleist is statistically verified in comparison with Goethe, Schiller, etc. and the result is shown in charts and graphs. Thesis 4 (ref.4) statistically confirms the so-called ≪Hitomaro≫ waka-poems in Kokinshu and true Hitomaro poems in Man'yoshu cannot be considered to belong to the same poet. The main statistical techniques applied in these theses are : principal component analysis, cluster analysis, Hayashi's quantification method (model 3), ANOVA, test of normal distribution, Chi-square-and Fisher-test, moving average and time series analysis, box-whisker plot, etc.
