Research Abstract |
We made an interview with a native speaker of the German language, and recorded it with a digital video camera. This recorded material (DV format) was edited with a personal computer and transformed into MPEG format, so that we can put it on a web-based learning plattform "Web Exercise" for which we also made question forms for a listening comprehension training. This web-based teaching materials can be used on any computers, no matter which operating system they use, when they are connected to the internet. We tried to use it in our German class for freshmen of the Kyushu University, and this teaching material was welcomed by the students and was also proved to be effective, however some question forms should be changed and the layout of some pages requires some modifications. We would like add Japanese translations or at least some notes in Japanese to difficult words in the text. We also developed a web-based reading aid system for German classes in Japan. Teachers can easily add Japanese notes to a German text using his system, and students can get a Japanese note to an unknown word in a text, if they put the mouse pointer on it.
