Research Abstract |
In recent years, the distributed generators (DGs : wind power, solar cell system, micro gas turbine system and so on) are introduced to the load system side, and the configurations of the electric power system, especially the load system (the demand side system) has been complicated. Voltage regulation and stability problems on the load system may become more important item to clear in power system operations. It becomes important to grasp operating conditions of the load system side from on-line data and to evaluate dynamic characteristics of the load system. Small sized SMES (micro-SMES) will be introduced to the load system side in order to improve the power quality. New application of the SMES was proposed in this study in the distributed power system including dispersed generators. In this study, it was proposed to estimate the load system operating state including DGs from on-line data by use of the SMES. The SMES can generate a small power disturbance of arbitrary patterns to the

power system with small influence on the operating conditions of power system. Small power oscillation in the power system due to the small power disturbance are observed and analyzed to grasp operating conditions. With these considerations, basic experiments were carried out on an analogue type power system simulator and a model SMES for simulator. Eigen-value of the system with various operating conditions, such as number of DGs, power flow, profile inside the load system side are measured on-line by use of SMES. A transfer function between load line power fluctuation and given SMES's power modulation, for example, is obtained using a spectral analysis and a model identification method. It was also confirmed that the independent operation of the micro grid at a fault in the upper system can be performed and re-synchronized to the upper system smoothly by use of SMES power control. Detection of the islanded operation can be successfully achieved by use of a small active power modulation signal from SMES. Less
