Research Abstract

1. The retirement house's custom continues now.
But it has to change its form because of the change of social and economic conditions, and the rationalization and the modernization of production and life.
The continuity has some characteristics at each region. They are following four types.
Type I-1 : It strongly continues the retirement house's customs which are separate house, having meals separately, separate household expenses. They live in the different place.
Type I-2 : It strongly continues the retirement house's customs which are separate house, having meals separately, separate household expenses. They live in the same place.
Type II : It continues with some changes that is from their life of independence each other to living together and having meals together.
Type III : It is a separate house but near the same house about real life.
And it has a big change with the retirement house's custom continues.
Type IV-1 : It continues with some changes that is from having meals together and … More the same household expenses to having meals separately and separate household expenses, more independence life.
Type IV-2 : It changes from the same house, having meal together and the same household expenses before World War II to a separate house, having meals separately and separate household expenses after World War II. And it also changes near house each other that they can live independently.
2. Type of living territory in the area where retirement house's custom continues has eight types. There are six types in house to live near each other, separate house and continuing house. And there are two types in the same house.
3. Dwelling intention of parents and their children is the type of dwelling that they have more independent life each other with thinking highly the type of dwelling that they have now.
The type of dwelling of pair house for aged parents and their heir's family that they hope the best is a next-door type house. It has majority, 68.6%. The second is a house that they live together. It is 13.3%. Less
